His wideness - The RWB Utsukushi

RWB (short for RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF) is a company founded by perhaps one of the most famous tuners on Earth. Based out of a small garage in Chiba, Akira Nakai, who developed his passion for automobiles as a race car driver. Nakai specializes in tuning older models in a distinctive style, giving them a more rugged design. The transformation always happens with the artist at helm doing the work manually, making each of his projects unique. This approach is very close to us. That’s why we took this build to our workshop for a technical and visual overhaul of the interior.

We fitted the car with Bi-LED headlights, louvered windows, custom exhaust and air-ride suspension. We also took care of the engine, which needed a big service being stroked to 4.0.

The build is simple, yet wild. Definitely a head turner. We wanted to emote that in the interior. Only two materials were used to create this project: deep, brown, unique nubuck leather and a basket leather weave made of the nubuck and chocolate napa leather. Interior is half naked, undressed parts are kept painted body color.

We achieved diversity and uniqueness despite using only two colors but adding a mix of textures and structures. We use only the best weaves on the market double laminated to make it strong and prevent movement between the strings that could damage the structure. The front seats are totally unique upholstered Recaro Sportster CS, with a bespoke redesign of the central area. We upholstered it in a mix of nubuck and leather basket weave with grommets. The back seats are minimal, replaced with a set of matching weave cushions attached to the bare metal.

Newly upholstered dashboard is decorated with a custom dash trim with a matching aluminum ignition switch cover, both customized with a woven leather. The neatly hidden CarBone AC panel adds to the look. But the attention quickly goes to the custom gauge cluster matching the body color of the car.

The visible harness wires, deep dish Momo Mod 07, 917 inspired wooden shifter kit and R-door cards with leather pull straps give it an even more simple, racing and rugged look.  

The build features a customized central console, made of fiberglass, made only in house for best fitment and personalized options as an inductive charger.
