History:
Bumperettes, also known as rear bumper guards, are a product that fits the rear bumper of the Porsche 911 G-model. Introduction of regulations in America required the bumper to no longer be stiff, but to bend under impact. In response, a long protruding bumper guards were added to their car, which, however, spoiled the car's line. The first bumper guards were made of metal, but from 1973 they began to be made of solid rubber. From 1974, wider and less attractive bumper guards appeared as a response to regulations and standards.
Description:
Made from high resistance, nylon polymer (with 12 carbon atoms in it) on stainless steel plate with bolts. They are half the size, height, and length of the original bumper guards, but still retain their shape, and the end is styled at a different angle to maintain the car's side line. Design is based on the retro-futuristing movement called Casette Futurism that blends modern tech with 80's vibe. Our bumper guards are less protruding, allowing for the lower part of the bumper to be removed if you like.
The bumperettes offered by us are more visually pleasing, with smooth side parts and a textured center part reminiscent of the original bumpers. Subjectively, one could say that they do not improve the car’s performance and capabilities, but the sideline and overall look will be more coherent and aesthetic worthy of a classic elfer. The line of the engine cover flows perfectly with our bumper guards. The registration plate is also better illuminated thanks to the use of certified LEDs that diffuse light.
Installation:
Installation of bumperettes is simple, and no changes need to be made to the bumper. They can be mounted in exactly the same holes from which the OEM European bumperettes were removed. With the use of 3D scanning technology, the bumperettes fit perfectly to the car's silhouette.
All the screws and metal elements inside the guards are stainless steel to prevent rust and damage of the product after contact with water.
Price for a set of two bumper guards.
The set includes: two bumperettes, nuts, bolts and washers, lights to illuminate the license plate. Wires NOT included.
Please note: If you take off the OEM US spec. bumper guards you might have a bad looking space on the bumper with additional holes. You will then need to fix the holes and paint the bumper, as our bumperettes are much smaller and the space that was covered by the OEM guards will be visible.
We’ve got plenty more, and can make pretty much anything.
